First Scare | Video

[shadowbound]

[The video feed comes to life, revealing one of the cabins. Limited light filters in from the window, drapes pulled closed, but a single candle lit up the desk in which a figure sat at.

The flame flickers, revealing a man's face, highlighting his displeased face. With his lips pursed, silver eyes narrow at the video feed, which changed to gold whenever the light from the candle shone in their direction.

Those eyes roll in their sockets, and the man looks away, his face enveloped in shadows once more.]

This is ridiculous. [He mutters into the darkness, exhaling heavily through his nostrils.]

Reduced to nothing but almost a mere mortal. [The spirit lifts his hand, his eyes concentrating on it. But for the nth time, nothing came. His hand shook and the side of his fist slams onto the desk.]

Locked up like some criminal. Unacceptable. This is no place for me. [His hand soon rests on his face, running down the front of it, pulling at skin.]

What am I even talking about; no one will hear me on this thing. Why even bother?

Forgive me if I don't take your word for it. You and I are not the same.

[A pause.]

Is it safe to assume that you are an alien of some sort? [He's seen a lot of creatures and demons in his time, different shapes and forms.]

Totally safe. I'm not human at all.

[kingofnightmares]

A true alien. Hm. Humans chatter on and on about them on earth. [Some more than others.]

Yeah, well, I'm the real deal.

[kingofnightmares]

I imagined aliens to be less.

Blue.

[megamind]

This from the guy in monochrome? [ Brow arch ]

It works with my line of work. People expect aliens to be green.

[megamind]

My eyes are green, is that close enough?

[kingofnightmares]

And what a beautiful shade of green they are.

[He scoffs.]

It's a bit of a let down if you ask me. You match the head description of an alien, but the skin color is new.

[megamind]

And you're in desperate need of a dentist, but you don't see me making a fuss.

My teeth are fine.

[megamind]

If you're a shark, maybe.

[kingofnightmares]

They add to the 'scare' factor.

[megamind]

How long did it take you to get to that sort of status?

[megamind]

Seven months.

I'm not sure of any averages. Never sat down and done the math.

[kingofnightmares]

In seven months you were changed.

[His lips tighten into a frown.] I doubt that will be the case for me then.

[megamind]

I -- had a growth spurt, we'll say.

[ His expression dims; he knows that the events with Toshiko gave him a flying shove at graduation. He just doesn't know what to THINK about that. ]

Anyway, maybe I'm ahead of the curve. I am brilliant.

[kingofnightmares]

Oh really? I couldn't tell with your large head and your name.

[megamind]

If you've got it, flaunt it! Come on, you're a-- boogeyperson, whatever. You should know how villains work!

[kingofnightmares]

I'm not a villain.

[megamind]

Yeah, no, I was. That's what I meant.

[kingofnightmares]

You were one?

[He raises an eyebrow.]

What have you done here that makes you a hero now?

[megamind]

Changed my ways, mending my thinking, and went home and protected my city instead of being a jerk. More flies with honey, and all that. Even if flies are honestly more attracted to vinegar. It's a saying. They're not accurate a lot of the time.

Why didn't you stay in your city? Or did the Barge tug you back in?
